(Public cameras, not those on private property). This article is good, but doesn't mention CCTV. I want to know how the government has got away with it. Surely it's illegal or is in breach of our human rights in some way or another. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought we all had the right to our image, and that if we don't want to be filmed, then by law nobody can film us. I never gave those CCTV camera operators the right to film me, so I do not want to be filmed, and with them having been proved not to prevent any crimes, why don't they just take the stupid things down!! It's sickening to think that Orwel's 1984 vision is coming true, especially with hearing that some of these cameras now have microphones in them (unsure whether it's true or false). In my opinion something needs to be done to get rid of those public cameras now. It'd be a huge step in taking back our privacy which seems to be disappearing so quick, that by the time we realise it's going, it's already long gone. CCTV is my number one pet hate in the UK!
