The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) requires every school it certifies to have a principal designated school official (PDSO). Each program or institution may also have additional designated school officials (DSO) that provide support to F and M students.

How do I change my PDSO in SEVIS?
You must submit:
- Signed Form I-17, with all required signatures.
- Proof of citizenship or lawful permanent residency (LPR) of the new PDSO an/or DSOs.
- Copy of court ordered document granting the name change, if the name on the citizenship/LPR documents differ from the name entered in SEVIS.

Once an international student is accepted into a Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP)-certified school, their designated school official (DSO) will issue them a Form I-20, “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status.”
Can international student buy house in USA?

How many days will it take to get I-20?
After receipt of all required documents, it takes about 2–3 weeks for your I-20 to be processed.
How long can f1 student be out of country?
5 months
If you will be outside of the U.S. for more than 5 months, you will be required to get a new I-20 prior to returning to the U.S. Immigration regulations state that a stay outside of U.S. within 5 months is considered a break in F-1 status.
