Is surround just Kaolin clay?
It’s just clay, but it has been filtered into very fine particals usinging a centrifuge.
What is Surround WP made of?
Surround WP is an effective OMRI listed crop protectant. Made from specially modified Kaolin clay that is registered for agricultural use; forms a barrier that protects from many pests when sprayed on fruits or vegetables.
How do you use clay surround?
How to Use Kaolin Clay for Plants
- Mix 1 quart (1 L.) of Kaolin clay (Surround) and 1 tablespoon (15 ml.)
- Reapply Kaolin clay for plants every 7 to 21 days for at least four weeks.
- Kaolin clay insect control should occur within three applications as long as sufficient and uniform spray has been achieved.
When should you spray your surround?
Peaches, plums, apples, cherries, apricots, pears and nectarines usually need at least two sprays of Surround after the flower petals fall off the tree and two weeks later. These timely sprays will keep worms and/or larvae such as plum curculio, oriental fruit moths, and codling moths from your fruit.

Use Surround WP powder at a rate of 1/4 to 1/2 lb of Surround WP powder per one gallon of water. One-half pound is approximately 3 cups. For sprayers difficult to shake, premix in a 5 gallon bucket per the directions below and pour suspension into sprayer.
