Is Hibiscrub the same as chlorhexidine?
See section 4. Hibiscrub belongs to a group of medicines called antiseptics. This means that it helps to prevent infections by killing germs on the skin. Hibiscrub cutaneous solution contains the active ingredient chlorhexidine gluconate 4% w/v (40 mg/ml), which has antimicrobial properties.
What is Hibiscrub used to treat?
Hibiscrub® antimicrobial skin cleanser has been used for more than 45 years in hospitals around the world to help manage infection. It is used for pre-operative surgical hand disinfection, antiseptic hand washing on the ward, and pre- and post-operative skin antisepsis for patients undergoing elective surgery.
Can you use Hibiscrub in the shower?
You have now had a ‘double shower’. Rinse off all of the soap. Pour a little HiBiScrub into your hand or onto a fresh wet sponge, and carefully rub soap over your entire body. Start at the top and work your way down.
Is Hibiscrub good for boils?
Washing the body and hair daily, and bathing in an antiseptic solution of chlorhexidine or triclosan (eg, Hibiscrub®) in a detergent vehicle, help eliminate infection. If there is dry or inflamed skin then an antiseptic emollient should be used.
Can I use Hibiscrub on genitals?
Hibiscrub warnings Avoid contact with your eyes, ears, mouth, anus or genitals. If Hibiscrub comes into contact with any of these areas, wash immediately with water.
Is Hibiscrub better than salt water?
What should you use to clean wounds with? Saline solution is the best product to clean most wounds with, and hibiscrub is best left for very dirty wounds, or to be used on the advice of your vet. You can use a pre-prepared saline solution, or make up your own using a teaspoon of salt in a pint of cooled boiled water.
How do I use Hibiscrub in my groin?
How to useHiBi Scrub:
- Wet your face and body. Then, using undiluted HiBi Scrub, wash your face (especially around the nose), armpits, groin and anal area.
- After washing all these important areas, rinse off under the shower.
- Repeat step 1, starting with the hair and always moving downwards.
- Repeat step 2.
Do you have to wash Hibiscrub off?
It is effective against most bacteria, viruses and fungi after a matter of seconds, but to be most effective, Hibiscrub should be left on for 3-5 minutes before being thoroughly rinsed off. As it contains emollients, it is also kind to the skin and shouldn’t cause dryness, even with frequent use.
Does Hibiscrub need to be rinsed off?
Can I use Hibiscrub on my private parts?
Pay particular attention to your hair, genital area, groin and armpits. Ensure Hibiscrub remains on your skin for at least 60 seconds for it to be effective, then rinse and dry your skin thoroughly. Hair washing: Use Hibiscrub as a shampoo and wash your hair twice in the five days. Avoid contact with your eyes.
