What is PermaBASE used for?
PermaBASE® Cement Board provides a durable surface designed to withstand prolonged exposure to moisture. Made with Portland cement, aggregate, and fiberglass mesh, it works well as an underlayment for tub and shower surrounds, countertops, flooring, and a variety of other interior and exterior applications.
Does PermaBASE plus need waterproofing?
PermaBASE WP is intended for use in wet areas around tubs and showers in instances where liquid waterproofing has historically been applied over cement boards. Using this product, and treating joints and fastener heads, eliminates the need for additional waterproofing application.
Can PermaBASE be used on walls?
PermaBase Cement Board: Space fasteners maximum 8″ o.c. for walls, 6″ o.c. for ceilings with perimeter fasteners at least 3/8″ and less than 5/8″ from ends and edges.
How do you cut a PermaBASE plus cement board?
PermaBase can be cut utilizing a standard utility knife and straightedge. With its unique core composition, little or no additional labor is needed to clean the edge after a cut. Compared to other backerboards that contain gypsum or cellulose, PermaBase is the most durable and versatile on the market.

Do you need a scratch coat on cement board?
A scratch coat will be needed when metal lath is used. This step is not necessary when applying stone veneer to a cleaned concrete, masonry, or stucco surface.
