Why are there so many run down houses in Detroit?
Many homes are abandoned in the area because they have been foreclosed due to mortgage defaults or unpaid taxes. Lamore blames this on the nature of economic transition.
Why does no one live in Detroit?
Given Detroit’s 60% decline in population since 1950 – including a higher proportion of married, middle-class and well-educated residents – such neighbourhoods are pockmarked by more vacant structures and empty land than a shrinking tax base can handle. Detroit’s social contract was torn to shreds long ago.

The library currently has Redford Observer newspapers from 1955 to 1999 on microfiche available at the library. Much of the print collection from 2000 to 2008 is now available in digital format.

The Redford Township Local History Archives is an ongoing project started by the Redford Township District Library to preserve, digitize and share local historical materials. This digitization project provides a searchable archive database that can be used by anyone in the world.
What can I do at the library?
The library offers a wide variety of programs and services including a quality selection of books, magazines, books on tape, downloadable audio, music CDs, DVD’s and a Children’s’ area. Computers are another heavily used learning and research tool at the library.
