What does Max proxy mean?
Bid up to this amount – Maximum Bidding (aka Proxy Bidding): The goal of maximum bidding, also known as proxy bidding, is for you to win the auction item at the lowest possible price by placing bids on your behalf at the lowest possible increments up to a maximum amount you set.
What happens if you back out of an auction bid?
Buyers who have placed a bid can retract their bid any time before the auctioneer announces the sale has been completed. It’s important to note, however, that the withdrawal of one bid does not revive any previous bid. The auction will continue with the next highest bidder.
What is straight bidding?
A: A straight bid is placed when a bidder decides to bid a specified amount, outside the proxy bidding scenario. The objective of placing a straight bid could be to avoid the time-intensive process of a “bidding war,” or simply to make a charitable (and oftentimes generous!)
Can you change a proxy bid?
Proxy Bids cannot be reduced once placed. Proxy Bids can be raised. For example, if a bidder has a Proxy Bid in place for $1,000 and they place another bid for $1,200, the actual winning bid will not change but their Proxy Bid will be raised to $1,200.
Do you lose your deposit on auction?
Once you have successfully bid at the auction, you are affectively tied in to the purchase of the property and risk losing your 10% deposit if you decide to withdraw.
Do I pay max bid or current bid?
If you remember nothing else from this book, remember this: Always enter the highest amount that you’re willing to pay for an item, no matter what the current bid level. If you think an item is worth $40, enter $40 as your maximum bid—and don’t worry if the current bid is half that amount.
