Can you put shellac on your own nails?
Shellac is not like other nail finishes, that’s true. But if you can polish your nails, you can learn to do DIY shellac like a professional. It is not any harder to use than regular nail polish, but it does require a UV or LED nail lamp.
What do you wipe shellac with at the end?
Wipe clean the nail with lint-free nail wipe soaked with 99% Alcohol. It has to be 99% Alcohol. If less than 99% it won’t show the full shine. After wiping, the polish should be dry, hard and not tacky.

Do you shake shellac?
To be safe, mix up your shellac a day or two before you’re ready to finish. To speed things up, pulverize the flakes in a food processor, and put the jar in a spot where you can shake it up a couple times a day.
Do you need a base coat for shellac?
To apply your Shellac polish you will need: A Shellac top and base coat. A 36W UV Lamp.
Is UV or LED light better for gel nails?
Many gel nail brands will work with a LED lamp, but if you are partial to a brand that only cures under UV light then you should get a suitable UV nail lamp. LED lamps have more intense but also more specific wavelengths and some polishes won’t react to them.
