When can a Soldier start ACAP?
(June 12, 2104) — Congress has given the authority for transitioning Soldiers who have served a minimum of 180 days on active duty to begin using Army Career and Alumni Program services 18 months prior to their expiration term of service and two years prior to their retirement date.

Can you opt out of SFL-tap?
We recommend you physically go to the DOL workshop but we want you to know that this is an option. SFL-TAP close out – at the end of the 5-day course, you either have to schedule an out-counseling with your SFL-TAP counselor. Often this takes 4-6 weeks to get on their calendar.
