Where to start Kungsleden?
The most common locations to start or end a hike along Kungsleden are Abisko, Vakkotavare, Saltoluokta, Kvikkjokk, Ammarnäs and Hemavan. If you start in Nikkaluokta, there is a 2-day walk-in to reach Kungsleden.
How long to hike the Kungsleden?
10-12 days
The entire trail takes about a month to cover but because it’s broken into sections you can choose the length of your hike. The most popular section, which stretches between Abisko and Nikkaluokta, is about 105 km long and will take 10-12 days, although if children are in your party it may take longer.
When to hike the Kungsleden?
The trail can be walked between July and September. Peak season is July and the start of August. In July the flowers are very pretty, and temperatures can be warm. During August the evenings begin to dark, rivers and streams are at a lower level and by the end of the month, the mosquitos have reduced in number.
How do I get to Kungsleden trail?
If traveling from outside of Sweden, taking the night train from Stockholm to Murjek will likely be the best option. Bus number 94 runs daily between the night train at Murjek and Kvikkjokk during the season. Bus number 43 connects the train at Murjek to Jokkmokk. Bus number 47 connects Jokkmokk and Kvikkjokk.
How much does it cost to hike Kungsleden?
Mountain huts along the Kungsleden cost 520 SEK (60 USD) a night, or 420 SEK (48 USD) with STF membership. Huts not on the trail (e.g. Tarfala) cost 460 SEK (53 USD) a night, or 360 SEK (41 USD) with STF membership.
How hard is the Arctic Circle Trail?
This trail is for physically healthy people. It is a natural terrain trail and typically takes 9-11 days to complete. Most people walk from Kangerlussuaq to Sisimiut, although there are some who walk the other way or even walk both ways. The trail gains elevation from east to west.
Do you need crampons for laugavegur?

Is the Laugavegur trail crowded?
Hikers will enjoy nearly 24 hours of daylight, and relatively milder weather (although snowstorms and bitter cold are possible any time of year). Expect more crowds on the trail, and be sure to reserve in advance if you plan on staying in huts.
