How do I know if my sunroof drain is clogged?

To check for any clogs in the tube, pour a bottle of water over the closed sunroof and look for any water that’s come out the bottom of the car. If you don’t see any water, you could have a clog. If you suspect that there’s a clog in the tube, you should bring it into an auto repair shop to have it addressed.

What happens if sunroof drains are clogged?

If your drain system becomes clogged, water builds in drain lines, can find places to pool and can damage the interior of your car. “If the water overfills the catch basin because the drainage is clogged, then it often is leaking in behind the headliner and trim panels,” Hudson said.

Where are the drain holes located?

The most common location for drain holes is at the bottom of the doors. Since rainwater can seep in past the door seal, the drain holes ensure that water will not collect under the seal and go unnoticed. Vehicles often incorporate drain holes in other areas as well.

Where is the scuttle on a car?

The scuttle panel is most usually the part between windscreen and bonnet, where the windscreen wipers are mounted – in roadsters, the top panel of the dashboard can also have the same name… The panel between the engine compartment and passenger compartment (the vertical panel) is the bulkhead.

What happens if there is air in the cooling system?

The cooling system is one where air bubbles can be a significant concern. They can lead to hot spots in the engine, which can cause it to overheat and lead to all sorts of internal engine damage that will be costly to repair.

Do all cars have sunroof drains?

That’s why all sunroofs come with built-in roof drains to make sure any rain water runs off smoothly. The only problem is that those drains can often become clogged. Leaves, pine needles, and other debris can easily get stuck inside the drains but they’re pretty easy to clean.
